Those who can do, those who cant... Schools are closing early and for extra days for teachers mental health

Kids have been absolutely crazy this year (I know a lot of teachers). I can imagine they probably do need mental health days. They can't even take sick days because nobody wants to sub. Whole districts with 3 subs, which means teachers have to give up their planning time to watch others' classes, and that means staying late and taking more work home.

Then you have the kids who are refusing to attend school, and the parents are calling into the schools in tears because the truant officers are going to take them to court, but they can't make their kids go to school.

Many students are acting 2 years younger than they are because COVID seems to have stunted them emotionally, and OMG the amount of kids with anxiety issues right now.

Tik Tok challenges of kids to destroy the school bathrooms in Sept. and smack a teacher on the ass in October...and there is an entire calendar of that already planned out!

Kids in the bathroom vaping all day with THC and who knows what, so teachers are constantly having to monitor the bathrooms and run kids to admin. Then the kids get threatening on them. I've heard a number of stories of schools already having more discipline issues this year (in October) than any other year for the entire year!

Kids refusing to do work (more than normal). 20% SPED. 20% 504 (medical conditions) and they all need their own special accommodations and to be treated like precious and fragile snowflakes.

Kids who have no money, no food, no beds to sleep on because their parents haven't been working. Not to mention the bunch who are going to end up on the street when their families get evicted.

Then you have the usual glut of paperwork.

Wake county in North Carolina (largest school district) lost something like 300 teachers....


The students are out of control.... Tic-Toc challenge BS.. Hitting teachers, tearing up the bathrooms and classrooms..
For 40k a year... Yeah F-that....

A lot of teachers including myself have walked away..

I took a job at a large power distrubtion manufactor for almost twice what I was getting paid...

Schools out for ever.

That saying about doing and teaching is very misconstured.

When you get old in any trade you can't be doing it anymore physically..... So, you move onto to spreading the knowledge you have obtained...

And let's not forget - the B**mers and Xers might not have been great parents all the time, but now it's Millexxials who are the parents. Just think on that for a minute... blue haired, tatted up, multi-pierced, obese, sexually confused parents. Not all of them, of course, but enough to cause havoc in the schools.

Millennials....the group that has an excuse for everything.
