I feel bad for everyone involved. I’m sure he didn’t mean to hurt anyone, and now one person has died, and another is in the hospital.

That being said, I think it’s hypocritical that he was so “anti-gun”…but still willing to shoot guns in a movie. That’s like a PETA member being willing to play someone who tortures animals for a movie, then saying it doesn’t count because it wasn’t real. If you’re really and truly anti-gun, you shouldn’t even pick up a pretend gun.

(Personally, I believe every American should be ok with Americans owning guns, because that is what keeps us free. But if you’re going to take a hardline stance on something and say “guns are bad,” then why produce a western, and play an outlaw who shoots people up?

And I know this is terrible, but the conspiracy theorist inside me says: What if it’s a false flag and nobody really died, but Alec Baldwin (the anti-gun Hollywood producer) set it up as a false flag, as a favor to Biden to try to take the guns away? But then I think - Nope….you’ve been reading too many conspiracy theories. Plus, Alec Baldwin would never make himself look like the bad guy in real life.

Anyway, it’s very sad. I really feel bad for everyone involved. Especially for the family of the cinematographer.

Someone else (on this thread) said a "blank" would not be a projectile but just gas. There seem to be different types of blanks, in addition to fake guns used, as well REAL revolvers loaded with blanks (whatever they are).

It could be. Could they have made the same mistake twice? A real cartridge supposed to have powder and primer removed. It was fired but it turns out the primer was never removed. No one noticed because the primer firing only had the power to push the bullet into the barrel.

Revolver emptied for next scene (and no one noticed one cartridge was without bullet).

Revolver reloaded with blanks that have primer and powder but no bullet. Bullet is still in barrel. Boom.

I think if Alec is going to go full crazy, he would shoot up the whole place and tell everyone he is god.

That case always reminded me of Heath Ledger for some reason. Joker from the Dark Knight also seemed very similiar to Brandon's portrayal in The Crow.

Not to mention the mysterious death of Bruce Lee.

This is all speculation but once people begin to make the connection between the 2 incidents, I looks like message to the lets go Brandon crowd to shut up or else. In plain sight.

Neither of those 7.62 X 39mm rounds are blanks. The one on the left is a full metal jacket and the one on the right is Teflon coated designed to penetrate flack jackets. Neither of these is used by the USA or NATO, these are AKS or AK -47 rounds. The USA does not use blanks with wooden projectiles.

I can assure you that the blanks that were supposed to be used in that movie in situations like today fire nothing but gas.

Many people have brought up Brandon Lee. The official explanation was a freakish series of events that allowed for a .44 caliber bullet to become lodged in the barrel of a pistol that then later fired a blank, propelling the bullet into Lee's stomach.

If a prop gun was used today, either a similar freakish series of events occurred again, which is highly unlikely, or Baldwin fired a real gun with a real bullet.

I made friends with the armorer while working as an extra in the Chicago Transformers movie. We were issued functioning full auto firearms, including 50BMG. There's no real ammo on the set, the production company had an incredible travelling armory :)

If it was an accident, it could only be with revolvers. For close ups, the revolver needs to have bullets at the end of the cartridge. A primer not removed and fired pushes the bullet into the chamber before blanks fired.

With semi auto or any other gun where you cannot see the bullet in a close up, it would be blanks only and ever.

Maybe a simple safety step would be to fire the first blank into the ground before any actor gets it. You then are guaranteed that nothing is in the barrel.

Or even simpler, look in the barrel.

Make it trend if you have social media.

It would be horrible if that ate him up and he did something.

I'm sure his brothers wouldn't mind if he left films, it would move them up the "We need a shitty d list actor, get a baldwin" scale.
