WE TAKE AWAY BETWEEN 2 AND 4 TONS A WEEK (MORE IN SUMMER, LESS IN WINTER). MOST OF IT IS WELL WITHIN THE SELL DATE, VIRTUALLY NONE OF IT IS ROTTEN- JUST BLEMISHED OR ROTATED OUT OF STOCK. THE RETAIL VALUE IS ROUGHLY 15k- 20k EACH WEEK AND I'M PROBABLY UNDERESTIMATING IT. I ROUTINELY SEE $6 A LOAF BREAD THAT ANYONE WOULD HAVE PAID FULL PRICE FOR THE DAY BEFORE THEY PASS IT OFF TO US, RACKS OF THEM, TOSSED OUT DAILY. WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR IT, BUT IT IS A HORRIBLE WASTE OF DECENT FOOD THAT GOES ON IN EVERY GROCERY STORE IN AMERICA, EVERY SINGLE DAY.

WE ARE IN AN OVERLOOKED, UNIMPORTANT (ECONOMICALLY) STATE MOST PEOPLE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO FIND ON A MAP IF YOU ASKED THEM, SO IT'S NOT LIKE WE'RE ONE OF THE IMPORTANT STATES THAT GET FIRST DIBS ON DISTRIBUTION.

I keep forgetting to buy powdered milk. The real thing won't help any of us if we need something to last a few months. I could go a couple of months on what I have now, but that's it. I didn't grab more water maybe I should keep buying it. That only lasts so long as well and the plastic seeps into the water. Better than dying though.

Good thing the food won't run out soon. Sometimes I worry about the cute little raspberries and blueberries from California because of the drought there. But hey steak and potatoes are always in stock if you can afford them.
