This is where a very large number of unskilled workers have gone. this and in 2020, a lot of people figured out their priorities- which weren't to go to a job to pay for a car to get to a job and are making do with less, or are making stuff to sell from their homes or reselling. low quality, low paying jobs that require masks and/or vaxx? no way. |

They were born in the year 2000 and beyond. They had the internet their ENTIRE lives. They won't work and if they do they have no sense of urgency. They dont put up with the crap that Gen Xers did. I know a 16 year old that started his first job at Dairy Queen with others his age. One older boy brought in some alcohol and they all went into the walk-in cooler and started drinking. Manager caught them. Fired all 7 of them on the spot. I drive for DoorDash at night and I was at a drive thru and I could hear the cursing and screaming going on inside. Girl opens the window and I asked if she was OK. She said NO BECAUSE I QUIT!....She shut the window and walked off...walked out the door and started walking down the road. Point being...I do think this worker shortage is realllllly strange. Some of it is these kids these days. They absolutely WON'T put up with the bullshishhhh. I've seen the way they are being treated now. It was always bad, but now post-pandemic it's worse. People are mean as hell to the workers...they're tired of it. The rest have been ruptured and we b fooked!! What You Reap Is What You Sow ~~ I don't chase, I attract. Whatever is mine will simply find me... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75092756 1.) Old people who used to have jobs for fun, early morning fast food cashiers, greeters, etc. They no longer feel safe interacting with the public, so they exited the workforce. 2.) Minorities and young people who have normally filled these positions are less likely to get vaccinated. These fast food and restaurants require vaccination. They preemptively removed themselves from the board and I guarantee most of their parents back them up in this decision, most of the time. Thus, low skilled / entry level VACCINATED workers are hard to come by. They are creating a supply / demand issue by not working. Now McDonalds will hire you at $17/hr with a $500 sign on bonus. Wonder how much that will be next year? The real question is how much will a Big Mac cost next year with all those rising costs my current position is 'pricing specialist' grocery store. retail prices are raising. another trick--- don't throw away your empty laundry detergent cannister-- take a photo of the label (making note of the volume)--- you will have same size container with less product!!! and fuck you i am not low-skill, and i am not vaccinated so shove your bullshit-theory up your ass |

Two falsehoods! First, The free money ran out months ago. People are getting evicted from their homes. People want to work but they are refusing the vaccine mandates and thats the real reason they are quiting but you won't here that news on big pharma sponsored TV outlets. |

Basically socialism vaxxing people and calling them lazy since all jobs went to China. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80418298 The thread I remember was about how everyone keeps saying it's really easy to get a job and people are hiring everywhere. In my personal experience that's untrue. I always get jobs easily, I submitted 17 applications before getting 1 interview and subsequently the job. This is extremely unusual, I always get hired wherever I want to work. But to not get any call back or anything 16 out of 17 applications just doesn't make sense. I am extremely qualified for the jobs listed. It's just strange |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 80749320 Netherlands 10/23/2021 01:09 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Meanness is a part of the culture and politics in today's very "progressive" America. As one example, rap music is a widespread aspect of today's society. I see people of all backgrounds (race, ethnicity, ages, etc) tuning into it. If you ever listen to many of the words or phrases common in rap, you know just how mean that aspect of popular culture is. A major trait of sociopathic behavior is weakness in identifying the good or bad, right or wrong, true or false nature of people, things and concepts. That generally describes a left-leaning way of thinking. Very socially-politically liberal America in 2021 tends to be sociopathic. |

User ID: 77590476 United States 10/23/2021 01:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Either they are ill, possibly dead but I would think we would hear more about that if it was high in numbers. I have to confess I went to Walmart today to pick up their knock-off version of benadryl. No cashiers to be found. Then I spotted one lady that I recognized that worked there and in the past was pretty vocal about how people were treated there. Anyway, she was in her WM vest and people were asking her what was going on? She said no one wants to work. I guess there were several people who she said called off that day and even one guy was rushing back and forth between two different areas of self-checkout because the person who was supposed to monitor on one side of the store self-checkout had called off. The lady in the WM vest said they had upped the pay to $14/ hr which isn't bad. However, I am fairly certain most employees are part time and get no benefits or it costs them so much to buy insurance they skip it. I don't know if WM is requiring employees be jabbed. Yesterday I called a guy I had gotten firewood from in the past and asked about availability. He said he has it, but delivery dates are out to mid to late November. Monday through Thursday he does tree trimming and delivers firewood on Friday and Saturday. He is a young guy, very nice, but you could almost hear his voice crack when he said he had worked hard to build up his business and now he can't find anyone that wants to work. He said if I had the means, I could come and pick up the firewood myself (at a considerable savings). I might try and do that. I don't mind paying the extra for delivery but don't want to risk waiting until there might not be any wood left. As others have said, here locally many fast food restaurants have drive through only because they don't have the staff to open the dining room. We have lawncare service because we have a killer, steep hill which is a pain to try and cut and sometimes we are not in state when the grass starts growing, so it needs cut and it is practically impossible to get lawn service unless you are using them Spring through Fall. This poor guy has people quitting on him right and left. Sometimes he is the only one to show up to do the work, which is a real challenge to get all his clients' yards cut in between rain and no help. My friend teaches high school and says how FL is hurting because teachers who have experience are leaving the field because of all the bullshit crt, common core stuff plus new teachers are wimps and leave after the first year. In the defense of the new teachers, though, I have to say from what I understand the kids are the inmates running the school which is an asylum. Some schools have no detention, it is practically impossible to flunk a student or get one expelled no matter how disruptive/violent they are. My friend said this all started with Bush's 'no child left behind' where kids were mainstreamed who should never have been and that it has gotten progressively worse year after year. So most schools are churning out graduates who can barely read, write or do math and have no ambition, no sense of self-worth, no self-control. You combine most businesses requiring the jab with people not wanting to work and the pathetic public schools we have and it results in a mess which is only going to get worse. Food banks, skip paying rent, move back home with mom and dad or crime. Washington has succeeded in turning Americas workforce into a stay at home do nothing population. Try and stop working and not receive a check and get back to us..... I know 2 sets of parents whose sons in their mid 30s who have never worked to take care of themselves. Each set of parents complain about them but continue to pay their bills all the while one shacks up and other hides in the same bedroom he has had his entire life. Obviously??? No sir. 16k dead according to vaers. Harvard study says it's 1.6 mil if going off 1% reported. New study 1 for every 170 vaers cases get reported. That means 2.7 mil dead. Now do that math for the people suffering from vaccines that can't work now. The adverse reactions... There you have your missing workforce!! |

I live in what used to be a pretty trendy neighborhood. Parking has always been a bitch. It wasn't unusual to have to park 4-5 blocks away, now I practically park right in front of my house every night. And that's even with all the restaurants around here taking several parking spots away with their outdoor seating! |
