How is he doing his job when he points a gun at someone who is NOT AN ACTOR and it's NOT PART OF A SCENE and pulls the trigger?

He wasn't acting at the time. There is no video of the event.

However, secondly, he had the gun, he pointed it at a woman (not an actress as part of a scene), and he pulled the trigger.

Santa Fe is as far and extreme left as Berkeley is.
Although he's clearly guilty of Negligent Homicide (at a minimum) the DA might not charge him.

But even if he does, finding a jury in Santa Fe that would convict him is a whole new challenge. They're more likely to line up in hopes of getting his autograph than to convict him.

After watching this latest season of American Horror Story about aliens, I am convinced that many Hollywood people read GLP!

Rule 1...the gun is ALWAYS LOADED. Always check as soon as someone hands you a gun or you pick up a gun, even if you just saw someone else check it.

Rule 2...never point a gun at anyone or anything you don't intend to destroy or kill

Rule 3...keep your finger off the damn trigger until target is acquired and ready to fire

Rule 4...know what's behind your target because YOU are responsible for anyone hurt or killed.

Baldwin failed all 4 basic rules and he should be charged with the death of this person.

There's unverified talk that he was also bitching about Trump at the time.

Along with that, he apparently was having problems with the movie crew. Some claim workers walked off as a protest of the set's safety conditions.

Baldwin is a nutcase in general. But a combo of his leftwing politics and sweatshop-boss attitude may have made him worse than normal.

exactly, a film set is a controlled environment; live rounds don't just somehow accidentally find their way into the props... on top that, why would he be pointing the gun and pulling the trigger at the cinematographer?

On a movie set, the gun is called "live" or "hot" even if it contains blanks. It's called "cold" if it's unloaded.

Apparently it contained bullets, not blanks even though the prop master said it was "cold".

Of course he shouldn't have pointed it at anyone and pulled the trigger even if he thought it was unloaded.

Baldwin should have checked. It literally takes 2 seconds to open the cylinder on a revolver, eject the rounds and examine them. Negligence on Baldwins part.
