The ships are not unloading. The gantry cranes are idle. The cargo is being intentionally held up.
"pandemic-related disruption to schedules" is BULLSHIT too. There are many thousands of longshoremen and dock workers waiting to be dispatched from the hiring halls. They continue to wait because the ships are not allowed to disharge their cargo. Truck drivers too.

Hundreds of container ships stuck as global bottlenecks grow.

Ports remain the most visible sign of the crisis. The report today on the waiting game at operations from Los Angeles to Shanghai, with nearly 600 container ships around the world stuck while they wait to be processed thanks to increased demand for consumer products, pandemic-related disruption to schedules and a shortage of dock workers.

In the US, the problem is most visible at Los Angeles and Long Beach the entry point for about 40 per cent of all imported goods where containers stretch out far into the sea. The crisis has also called into question the value of just-in-time supply chains...

Something people need to understand about this "incident" is that we now have god knows how many containers of explodey toxic pax in the straits cutting off both the Canadian and American ports that were the only ones that seemed to be running ok!

The straits of Juan de fuca are now essentially mined and will need lots of resources dedicated to search and clearance operations that will further grind west coast ports to a halt...

Any of you who still believe this isn't being done on purpose are either idiots or don't understand the implications of what's happening/and the warnings we've been getting from port and warehouse workers that they were ORDERED to grind things to a halt!

I watched a news snippet a couple of days ago about there being plenty of dock workers and truck drivers waiting around for hours, hoping for work. The problem is NOT a lack of dock workers or truck drivers.
