I hired a contractor once (hispanic) to do a house remodel on an out of town property provide only labor and skill. I supplied 100% of the material because I wanted to select it myself.

Pictures looked great but found out later on in person inspection he traded in my materials for much cheaper products.

The only cheating I can justify doing is typing in the code for a cheaper produce item than the one I'm actually buying. There is so much waste in the produce section as it is, and they throw out so much unsold fruit and veg, I can't even feel guilty about it--they're at least getting some money from me. Green bell peppers are on sale, but the red ones aren't? Well, they are now; the scale doesn't know what I've put on it, only how much it weighs. And I never ring in organic produce at the organic price, only the conventional one.

I can honestly say that I never have. Why?

1. Because even if no one sees it, God sees it and we will answer to HIM on Judgement Day for our deeds - good or bad.

2. Honestly, I wouldn't feel right stealing from someone. Because....it's just wrong and I wouldn't want anyone stealing from me. We've had our house burglarized before and I've even had my creative work stolen from me and placed in a newspaper (after they stripped my name and copyright off of it).

3. I really don't want what is NOT actually mine. That can mean money that's not mine, products in a store that aren't mine or even a spouse that's not mine. If you take what is not rightfully yours, you will NEVER enjoy it. NEVER.

So....theft is not in the equation for me. We're going into some very perilous times, and many of us are already there. Many people will be asking the Lord for help. I believe He may be more inclined to help an honest person than He will a thief.

I do it with organic products. They are not organic so I pay the non organic price on produce.

As someone who works for accounting, shrinkage is factored in to the cost of buying ever single product you purchase. You aren't "sticking it to the man" when grocery prices creep up. It is an indirect cost, but one that is accounted for by passing on higher prices to you. You lose either way.
