and here we go, The End of Cash....

'The end of physical currency, cash, is certainly drawing near': Economist

Physical currency and hard cash may soon be a thing of the past, Eswar Prasad, Cornell University economics professor and author of "The Future of Money" told Yahoo Finance Live.

“The end of physical currency, cash, is certainly drawing near, and cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin (BTC-USD), have certainly paved the way for that revolution,” Prasad said.

The digitalization of transactions has been well underway for the past few decades, but serious discussions regarding a fully-digital dollar are relatively new.

More at the link, My question is how will addicts ( Drugs, Sex, Etc. ) function in a world without paper money>?

We forget sometimes that there are saints living among us.
When we meet them, we are reminded, not just of the presence
of pure divinity right here on earth, but also of our own potential,
and of the responsibility we have to try to live up to it ~
for our own sakes and for the very future of this planet.

Who cares what Eswar Prasad says?

“Economists” are always wrong and they never have to suffer any repercussions for their false information.

Especially the brown ones.

Cash and crypto will both be outlawed. There will only be the FedCoin.

There will be no more banks in the US. There will only be the Fed. There will be no option except to bank with the Fed. The Fed wants negative interest rates which it cannot have if people have the option of cash or crypto.

Cash and crypto will be banned. FedCoin will be our US currency and your money in the bank will expire if you don't spend it. That is the only way the govt can control the economy completely and force people to spend money when times are bad. You'll have the option of spending it today or tomorrow it will be worth less than today. The Fed will control your life totally.

you can't 'outlaw' crypto

you'd have to outlaw the internet

and even then, crypto has been transacted over ham radio

It’s a wet dream for the current psychopaths in power , and it would be tied directly to your social credit score. They could have complete control over every purchase. It will happen inevitably but most likely after they exterminate 90% of the planet

I think they will finally break out the flying cars then. So there’s that

You can't stop the signal mal.. . Trying to ban other forms of money will be like banning drugs ( which, will be a form of money ) - like bullets, tampons, lighters, old silver coins, cans of food and so forth.

They would have to shut off the internet ( and the GDP it generates) all over the world to block crypto. You might have to trade your crypto by telephone or letter, to a trusted entity in a foreign nation, but what people consider money is based on demand -not what they mandate.

And sorry to break it to you - the paper US dollar sitting in your wallet, or the digital number sitting in your bank account is worth less today than it was yesterday.

They will try to control the people this way-- but its not going to work. They don't have the enforcers, and the American people are well armed. They might control a few cities, but if you are still dumb enough to be in a city, well you probably deserve whats coming.

Most likely black markets will return to barter systems. And king and queen of barter are gold and silver.

I was a autozone today and tried to buy some glass cleaner and interior cleaning stuff. The total came to $15.79 and I handed the cashier a $20 bill. The cashier proceeded to tell me that they didn't have any change. This was at about 4pm.

How is that even possible? A store that sells things all day long, doesn't have 4 one dollar bills, two dimes and one penny?

I mean there are basic economic principles that do affect macro systems, however they cannot be quantified. The problem with central planning is that they think they can quantify everything with a program.

Von Mises discusses these principles, identifiable by incalculable in Human Action.
