Ruined my marriage. Lost our home. Then, ok I had a decent poor but happy life with the kids...until... my child grew up and became an alky along with her "fiancees." Ruined her life. Back home and shes upsetting my household and causing injury and pain. Now, back to al anon if I want to mentally deal. AA is the only thing I saw that worked for alkys. AlAnon and Alateen saved my sanity. AA Didnt stop all the domestic violence, tho. Some people just are violent. |

It appears you truly want to as it seems you are doing this voluntary, good for you. For me I finally quit using drugs not because I didn't want to do the drugs anymore, because I love them, it was because I got so sick of all the chasing and running around. Leaving for work 2 hours early or getting off work at 430 and not getting home until almost 8. I just got tired of all the driving and running around, it really does wear you out. Especially when a dealer has you wait 30+ minutes at a gas station and he live less than 30 seconds up the road. The have no respect for your time and how much money you bring them. I have quit multiple times just to teach a dealer or middle man a lesson about burning up my time. Sorry about the rant, this is about you. I always like to hear when people are at there breaking point and decide to do something about it. Stay the path, and I really wish you the best of luck. It can cause anger for no reason at all except it is because your nerves are straining under the effects of low blood sugar. My husband had the problem really bad; he would get so bad he tore his pant from the seams. I research to find help and the snacks was the biggest help I found, one other thing helps as crazy as it may seem, one small bottle of coke cola works fast if you can't get any peanut butter crackers, it brings your sugar up fast in a hurry if you didn't keep your snacks on you. It is worth trying, no guarantees it may help and I hope it does. Sorry I got a headache These are the times that tries men's and women's souls! May we come though it victorious! |

User ID: 79611648 United States 10/24/2021 07:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I think and this is just a theory about people who have a problem with alcohol. The problem is hypoglycemia, it is similar to diabetes except it is low sugar instead of high sugar. A person who has hypoglycemic craves the sugar continent of alcohol, and so they keep drinking. Their body memory will make them crave alcohol. I've always found it interesting 1 person can do heroin or fentanyl and be an addict for life and the next person hates it, that's way more than just a personal decision. There are also different types of addicts, some love alcohol others heroin or coke. Some love uppers and some love downers. Some take pain medicine for legit pain reasons but end up addicts while other take the medicine and just stop. Some love alcohol and nothing else. It's just very interesting how that works, wish I could find a cure, but according to a recent post of leaked gov data here on GLP I'm a terrorist for wanting to make the world a better place. It is worth all the hard work and tough days, once you get sober you will never want to turn back! Make peace with yourself though and be gentle during your recovery! One day at a time, and sometimes just one minute at a time... You can do it! Just make your mind up and avoid temptation for a while. Wakeupworld13 |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 81045490 United States 10/24/2021 07:32 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I went to rehab in East New York. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80014312 Most of you don't know what that means. It was a bunch of black ex convicts I was the one white guy there. They were good to me they were good people.. Needless to say it didn't work,. .. I went to rehab at Conifer Park, NY back in the early 2000's. My experience was the same as yours. They sent people up from the city. Almost all of them were genuine, kind people who'd fucked up one too many times. Rehab didn't slow me down one bit, but I wasn't ready to stop. I kept going heavily for years, accelerating towards the precipice. Went over the brink more times than I care to count. It's a fucking miracle I'm here to write this post. I tried to get sober multiple times, but wouldn't stick with it. Wasn't ready. Got sober a couple years ago. Best decision I've ever made. Got into AA, got a sponsor for the first time and actually worked the program instead of just hopping in and out of meetings when I brought legal trouble upon myself. Through dedication and hard work my life has gone from constant chaos to a pretty enjoyable experience. God speed to you, Opie. From one addict to another, I wish you all the best. I strongly recommend getting involved in AA (if you aren't already). If you sincerely work the program, the program will help. Developing a connection with your interpretation of God and focusing on gratitude are essential. I know you didn't ask for advice. Just wanted to offer you some encouragement. Most of us alcoholics / addicts are decent, loving people who've been through fucked up experiences. Personally, I went through some things as a child which should never happen to anyone. I don't know what you've been through, Opie, but if you carry scars just know that they can be healed with the right touch. This existence is a challenging one to navigate under favorable circumstances, but when energy is in turmoil and substances are involved it is an endless shit show. At times it feels like the drugs help, but they don't. They just cast a veil over the issues. Life can become managable. It can even become fun. Put in the effort. I believe in you. |

I am so grateful to be free and you can be also! Believe it! And fight! Started fasting & praying. Started keeping the Sabbath & studying scripture. Seven months later I had my first day in years free! Call on Yahusha, the Savior. He will help you. I'll be praying for you. Already have. |

Quoting: One Small Ask: Burn a Mask. It actually has to do with money. Gotcha. I only asked because I know sometimes places will take a person, but only if they have no booze in their system. Yet if someone is going to rehab for alcohol there is small chance the booze is really ever out of their system. Just wanted to see if I might be able to help with any advice or guidance. I know alot of places around here actually want drugs or alcohol in your system to prove you have a problem or are taking said drug. But I guess it's different in different places |

I've been in a lot of meetings. One thing that I have never heard mentioned (and will likely never be mentioned) is that Bill Wilson was in hospital where he was treated with Belladonna. The psychedelic experience he had directly contributed to the founding of AA. Higher power indeed. |
