It took me many years to try to find the traditional Latin Mass. I grew up in a decade post-Vatican II - the 1970s and 80s. In a lot of ways, I feel like I have been cheated. My family's spiritual traditions have been uprooted and replaced by these abominations.

You used to be able to go to virtually any Church around the world and hear the same traditional Latin Mass, listen to beautiful Gregorian chant, stare in wonder at the most beautiful church architecture, and pray with a holy, reverent liturgy. It's all gone now, aside from a few pockets here and there where you can find the traditional Catholic Masses.

No, the Latin Mass can quite easily be followed with a side by side English-Latin translation found in any Roman Missal. I comprehend and follow the liturgy, readings, and rubrics just fine, as do many traditional Catholics that adhere to the Latin Mass.

The real Church is the people - the parishioners, many of whom are poor or of the middle and lower classes, who are devoted to prayer. They are the Church. Despite the corruption, there have still been many good bishops, cardinals, and Popes through the ages, as well as many saints.

The parishioners carry on despite the corruption. It was no different in Jesus' day either.
