While I agree with most of the things you're saying let me ask you this: How do you know that this is our NATURAL state?
We are so many level deep in the simulation that it's difficult to make such a statement. The Human Instrument has been engineered to it's current state. It is based on an cosmic template, but it's hardly a natural occurrence.

They are pushing humanity even deeper in the sim and for that adjustments need to be made. Also, they will make the outside world so inhabitable and boring that people will volunteer to dive deeper into the VR.
