How exactly do we flake off pieces of our silver to pay for stuff when SHTF?

No one is going to trade food for pieces of metal.

Buy smaller units of measure like silver dimes and quarters. You can buy rolls on ebay.

There's a pretty good chance you won't be flaking off silver to pay for anything. Mostly using either 1oz coins or just cutting them up into quarters. If you need to go lower just cut that piece in half. The only thing you would need shavings for would probably be if you were buying a little dime bag of beach sand. If you only have giant chunks then get a knife. Or a metal wedge and a hammer but silver is pretty malleable at room temp so just get to chopping. Godspeed brother or sister, mother or father, whoever you are to me.

Well if I’ll be throwing my silver, then I’m glad I got bars. They make for better weapons than smaller coins.

If SHTF it would be idiotic to trade foodz water or ammo for gold or silver.

You can't eat metals.

If you need to trade, you trade e.g. food for it. Currency is pointless at that stage.

Now that you mention it, I do have my handy dandy cow tipping kit.

Silver is never going to be worth much more than it is now. Just trade for equal value. Not like we're talking about 1 oz of gold.

You been watching to many movies. Look at history and what happens when a countries currency. The world doesn't end when it happens. Its happens in right now over the world. Do you think you live somewhere special and the world can't live without you?

My theory is that having real world items & skills to barter may be a far better plan.

This is just my theory, but, those having multiple skills will be the ones that will be the most likely to survive.

Be a "Giver" of knowledge, "Takers" will be eliminated within the 1st month of collapse.
