So I bought it!. The 1969 Betty Crocker Cookbook.

I found her gingerbread cookies, peanut butter cookies, chocolate chip cookies and white bread.

I'm going to make them!!!

I'm glad I asked her about it. I haven't had bread that good since I was a kid.

I found a bread pan on sale at the grocery store from $9.99 to $6.99. I had $6.00 worth of points saved up on my store card so it only cost me 99 cents!

I'm not much of a baker so I hope I don't screw it up.

Tomorrow morning, I'm going to pick all my peppers and try to make my own hot sauce. I've got lots of habeneros and jalapenos to boil down. Any tips?

Nice! My goto is from my Grandmother's kitchen, "The Woman's Home Companion Cook Book" (1942/46)

As it turns out, it's one of "the ones people want" now, so I got lucky! It's even got her scribbled notes, adjustments, etc

I've never been much of a recipe guy but I really miss the breads and cookies I had growing up. You can't buy anything like it.

TIP Don't rub your eyes until you wash your hands.
The same thing with going pee.

That was my late mother’s cookbook. Was falling apart, but I used a book repair kit on it. Still have it.

I can heartily recommend the stuffing recipe for turkey, as well as the Shrimp Creole recipe.

That is one of the better cookbooks out there. I have the same copy that the woman in the video is holding.

A tip for anyone following a recipe from these older books that calls for butter: do not use anything other than a high-quality grass-fed butter like KerryGold, the recipes will NOT taste right, especially baked goods or sauces.

Most butter today comes from cows that are fed grain and a generally crap diet, and has very little flavor. KerryGold is more expensive, but you will actually need to use less.

I like Kerry Gold. Even better when it's on sale.

The sugar cookies with crisco are the best, not the healthiest, just the best.
