You have to pay taxes on the state it's delivered to...doesn't matter what state you are in when you buy it. Wow, so I have been getting tax free deals from these places who will risk their entire business for lil ole me and many others? Did you just buy over 100k in silver like I did? Every company I talked to charged state tax. I'm in TN. I had to have it delivered to a Delaware repository where I went and picked it up. If you're buying $100 bar I guess they don't care about taxes. Oh heavens no. We’d probably pay off our remaining mortgage with that kind of money. Our cars and credit cards are paid and the mortgage is our big focus. The silver is a “just in case” buffer. If I were crazy enough to drop $100k in one shot or over a few shots in a short time, I most certainly would be purchasing other metals. 200LBS of silver is a lot to move if you need to act fast. 3.5LBS of gold is the same value (right now) but the gold/silver ratio is way out of whack, and a lot of people are hedging on the ratio to narrow... You can't really have green tech without PM's. I even invest in Uranium, lithium or nickel and some other stuff via stocks which some have been doing excellent lately. Both needed for energy sectors. Then enter your zip code and click 'get rates'. No tax. I used a Nashville zip to check. FLOYD OF FENTANYL Your best bet is to go build a relationship with a Local Coin Shop with CASH. These all charge tax in TN. (All are legit too) [link to www.apmex.com (secure)] [link to www.jmbullion.com (secure)] [link to www.gainesvillecoins.com (secure)] [link to bullionexchanges.com (secure)] [link to sdbullion.com (secure)] Most of the larger places use a warehouse in Nevada.... They are just store fronts who place order from there for you. Gotcha! Thanks guys, this is exactly the kind of advice I’m looking for. I’ll try and find a local coin shop. How do I know I’m getting the genuine article? Yes I’m brand new to PM. We almost bought some back in the latter 2000’s (2008 or so) but my husband came to the conclusion that it was so up and down that he had no stomach for it. Now we’re looking at much smaller amounts than he was thinking back then and he’s delegated the task to me (well truthfully I kind of just picked it up and am running with it. A most sincere thanks! One fast way is a neodymium magnet. But one with a loop for your key ring. It is not in a LCS's best interest to scam ppl. There are DOZENS of ways to test for purity. I see. So essentially, if I’m reading you correctly you’re saying there’s not too much concern about getting ripped off on “faux silver”? And I will definitely use the price comparisons you all have kindly provided for me :-) I read somewhere recently (or maybe it was a YT video) that an lunch of silver was enough to feed a family of five for rough a month in Venezuela. Not sure if this is true but from what we are seeing, alarming inflation seems to be in our future. Oh, how about pre 1964 (or is it ‘63) US coins like Nicole’s, dimes, quarters, etc.? Would anyone recommend buying some of that or just go with the pure silver? Thank you all so much for your patience with me! Up to 1964. You can check out this website to get estimates on gold or silver coins: www.coinflation.com Silver coins 1964 or earlier had about 90% silver in them, but people recognize them. You'll be buying the silver as a hedge against out of control inflation in the prices of goods and services, so others will do likewise and they recognize sovereign mint coins no matter how old they are. |

I am waiting for some junk silver right now, I thought it would be a good idea to have some cheaper coins to deal with vs. the gold and silver ounces that I have. I got pre-64 dimes and quarters. The Fed is going to go tits-up. |

Looking to obtain just a bit of silver. Advice needed on a good reputable company please! Thanks Right now, nobody has stock. The time to buy was a year ago. You can find some silver rounds on eBay, if you don't mind paying a huge premium, and risking buying fakes. It's tough right now. Best bet is to look for smaller local coin dealers and have them call you when they get some stock. "Peace in our time? You don't want to have to ask someone to break a 1oz (or even 1/10oz) gold coin to buy a loaf of bread. Silver ounce coins for that. "Peace in our time? Diversify with rounds, ASE's and 90% junk in all denominations. And anything less than 250 ounces won't get you too far. |
