My parents are of similar age, my grand mother dies aged 100 years. People who actually get to live into their 90's are generally pretty clapped out, be it mental, physical, cardiovascular or bronchial.

For all the adrenal-chrome and blood transfusions from virgins, Her Majesty The Queen appears to be pretty much like a woman of her age.

Can't say I blame her for not feeling much like leaving comfortable surroundings just for the sake of a few handshakes and photographs with psychopath politicians and the great unwashed.

Many years ago, plans will have been made for the time her health becomes a problem. Adapting ceremonies and hving younger members of the family stand in for her, while she watches from a distant window, limousine, adapted carriage, golf cart etc. Finally they will announce something similar to Prince Philip, where she will slip away quietly after a brief period of bed rest and a little (media) gnashing of teeth.
