yep..thats a good plot..but ..people will fight back in pockets, it will be obvious enough to start a blowback surge of 'truth'..people will get empowered seeing they are in a battle for truth ..and then everyone in their right mind will put in to be a braveheart ..battles with that kind of moral fight hard and dont go easy enough for them to see the kind of sunshine they are investing all their chips for...
but..lets just go with they couple their strategy with a valid threat to civilian population..one that clips the wire in the moral argument ..the resistance stands a chance to defeat itself from the inside..and you dont get a round table of fighters with a lasting justified cause. the close of the deal falls to a days rather then years...they get to come out of their bunkers quicker..

I know someone who had Covid pneumonia, big time smoker and he recovered. They gave him steroids, antibiotics, zinc, vit d, vit c, and blood thinners.
