Zillow is garbage
They aren't dumping any houses
We have a housing shortage anyways so it wouldn't be dumping in a bad way.
This has nothing to do with the economy. This has to do with zillow being a shit company that was just wrong.

 Quoting: Lord Earl of Greywater

those houses are not really at risk for foreclosure because what they do with all of those payments that they missed is just tack them onto the end of the mortgage, they don't force them to pay it all at once.

however people might willingly put their house on the market because they just can't afford the payments and more houses might be available in inventory to buy, but it's not going to be foreclosures right away.
 Quoting: Butch DeFeo

In the past, they called in the mortgages and back then the situation was not anywhere near this bad.

I don't see a housing shortage near me.

There are tons of new developments and houses being created/built everyday.

Sometimes I REALLY think we're all living in one of 2 alternate timelines.

I often see things that others in my life don't, and vice-versa.

Am I the only one experiencing this?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80553877

No, I am experiencing this too. We live in Florida, and housing construction is off the chain!

I keep hearing TPTB calling for no more single family dwellings, and good bye to gasoline, but more and more gas stations, car lots, car washes, and single family homes are being constructed. I don't get it either?

Correct information here because original statement is false. Zillow is only a website that collects information from the MLS listings. It has no houses to dump. Only brokers control listings. This is crazy erroneous info.

Just the facts there.

My wife's in real estate and we always laugh at the people who want to sell because their "zestimate" put their house at some stupid high price.

I hope this and so many other of the new "disruptive tech" companies go broke.

Tech has reached the point where new business models can be developed that circumvent current laws and regulations, Some section of the public is then fleeced before govt., which can't pass anything that does not include a tax hike, takes a look at it.

It's not being nosey, it's being aware of your surroundings and noticing details.

Situational awareness is very important these days, especially when it concerns where you live, shop and work.

Could prevent a future disaster.

Being nosey and illegal spying, is what Barack Obama and the government do.

Huge difference.

Zillow thought there was a housing shortage too, that is why they thought buying up housing would be a gold mine, but then they probably realized the shortage is an illusion created by large financial institutions and foreign investors cornering the market on housing.

The financial institutions are sitting on a lot of houses and have been for a long time. In fact many of the houses that have been bought up are being converted to rentals to cover the cost of upkeep, while they sit on the banks balance sheets.

And that upkeep is the problem of trying to corner the market in housing vs trying to corner the market on silver, which has been attempted before; homes cost a lot in upkeep.

None of the shortages are real, including the housing shortage. The economy is not even real and hasn't been since quantitative easing started back in 2007. Hell the market was green when the global production shutdown and oil was in the negative.

We live in fantasyland on the other side of the looking glass, nothing but financial crooks using financial tricks to game the system now. The corruption has become endemic.
 Quoting: themessengernevermatters

Does anyone know of these bank-owned houses? Because there sure aren't any around here. There used to be hidden inventory around here. Now it's all gone and new construction happening on undesirable lots.

Hum lets see. A shitbox in a shithole town, 250k. They "dumped" houses where?

Likely all in the higher end 700k and up range, that is the range most couples today expect to pay in major cities, 400k in secondary cities, for nice neighborhoods.

There is no housing to buy. I'm beyond desperate, I have no idea where to go or what to do. I cant handle a reno, I already live in a home that needs a complete remodel and I can't get it done.
 Quoting: Feathery

Can you try to refinance your mortgage? I just did that, it was easy-peasy. I pulled out $30,000 to pay off all my debts and also buy a wood stove fireplace insert so that I have heat if the electric grid goes down. My only monthly payment now is my mortgage and utilities, and my mortgage payment is less now than it was previous to the refinance. Hire somebody to do the heavy parts of the reno, you can do the finish work yourself later.

I'm in the midst of selling a house. Zillow has it estimated at $30,000 less then my asking price. Why? They don't know the house has a small private lake (11 acre lake with 5 owners).

The house had a deposit on it the first day on the market. The deal fell through because my realtor screwed things up big time. Since that time I have had several offers that were about 15K below asking.

The fact is that construction costs today are north of $200 a square for a custom home in this area. The house will sell and I can hold out for the spring market.

I’m in SW Florida and homes and apts are being built left and right but today I stopped at Aldis. I had not been there in about 1 Month.
Boy was it scary to see the emptiness on the shelves. They are getting emptied and emptied. Inventory is getting worse. And food cost is up
It feels very eerie to walk in a store 1 month later and so much less food is available.
But they keep building and building homes.
Maybe Zillow is just not a good business model and they did something to screw up their business.
Either way I think Inventory as a whole is on the downside.

Yes, I agree. 7000 homes is nothing in the grand scheme of things. The supply in Colorado for example would certainly benefit from some additional supply. Who the hell cares about the Californicators and Arizona. The rest of retiree will see this as a buying opportunity.

Zillow had to do this because they bought at the top in places where prices had gone too high.

In the area Zillow bought they overpaid and manipulated the market through their zestimate valuations. Those same markets are having price drops and longer days on market while zillow is holding the bag. The housing market is going to crash/correct massively over the next 2-4 years in all areas but it will be much worse is areas that saw a doubling of home values in the past 2 years. Count on it.

i didn't watch the video because of the retarded sensationalism.

94% crash?

even in a total doom scenario, no asset will drop 94%.

ie. a house that is now 300k will go down to 18k. uh... no. sorry.

Dow at 35k drops to 2100. uh... no. not in this reality.

I can't watch the total idiots that have to use a total retard leader line of 94% crash.
