In the movies today:

-Emotion trumps reason. Even if you fuck everything up in your emotional turmoil, it is ok. You're just being human. No need for self-discipline.

-All old people are sick, because they think before they act.

-Compromising for the greater good is bad. Never look for a compromise. You are right, they are wrong.

Movies suck because they're poorly written for the lowest common denominator aka casual retards. The language of film has been forgotten, substituted with special effects and action set pieces to keep people with small attention spans entertained. Every single thing must be explained or audiences will groan, "We don't get it!"

The best movies I've seen over the past decade are mostly indie movies. Movies that don't treat me like a complete idiot and understand how to communicate ideas with inference, pacing, editing, and context.

The most brilliant movie I've ever seen is called Upstream Color. You want to see a movie that will make you feel something, respects your intelligence, and keep you thinking about it for days/weeks/months later? Check out a movie like Upstream Color.

You can say the same thing for todays "Music", Corporate crap.

Most movies today are intellectually insulting. Most TV/Netflix/etc shows, too.

Even if they don't explain things, you get clumsy foreshadowing that is almost as obtuse as the characters explaining stuff.

It's been a long time since I saw something that left me perplexed and intrigued.

Agenda pushing is annoying even when I agree with the agenda.

I couldn't watch the Watchmen series because of that.

Exactly. And popular series being destroyed by wokism.

I love NCIS Los Angeles. But they've trashed what used to be tough, cool characters and turned them into woke, boring morons, going on about their emotions. Plus, they replace popular people with politically correct ones, lesbians, aggressive black women, silly puny girls in hijabs...

I cant take all the satanic symbology in all
the movies now. Worse than it ever was.

Used to be a person would have a vision, a message, a story... something that inspired them to pick up a pen and spin a take, create the world and the people they can see.

Now, it's 20 writers cobbling some buzz word pitched by the executives.

You'll still find a random good movie that gets very little attention media wise, or like my foolish daydream suggested, in Inde films.

You'll still find stuff with soul, but try other mediums.

Even if you bring a good script, it will be butchered by some big-name Executive Producer.

It will have to adapt to the emotional expectations-payback scheme.

Well I'll certainly agree with your first statement.

There's moments of emotion in die hard, and a payback to it when the bad guy falls.

When movie studios are run by 25-30 year-olds who are still wet behind the ears of life, the result is extreme car crashes, buildings blown up, and sex because that's about all that's on the minds of young men. They have not experienced the ups and downs of living yet so they cannot portray films of substance that older writers/producers can.
