When you move, let them get used to the inside of the new house for a day or two, then move the litter box outside. If they are attached to you they will stay. They just need a short time to associate a new home with a new magnetic location. Rescript and reorientation. To Ignore Tyranny is to Give It Medium to Thrive. |

Not sure how I'm gonna play this ye5. To find inspiration, you must look for it, but, fortunately, it wants to be found. Live free. Die well. |

I'm not sure I could keep them in that long. They love being outside. i guess its one or the other. Just passing on what the vet says :) Going outside Outdoor cats will miss having outside access but it is important to stay firm – many cats have been lost by being let out too soon and getting disorientated, or trying to head back to their previous territory. Cats should remain indoors in your new house for at least three weeks. This time allows them to regard the new house as ‘home’, scent-mark the area and settle in. During this time, sprinkling some of your cat’s used cat litter around the perimeter of the garden can pre-warn other local cats that a new cat is in town, and also make the garden smell more familiar when you start letting your cat outside for the first time. |

We only let them in when its storming and really cold. Pretend it's rainy for a few days. Feed them inside for a day or two, place their bowl outside with some food when you first let them out. If its only a few blocks they've likely been to the new place before, so while they may wander back to the old place, the firm knowledge of where the food now is should do it *Glitches May Occur. Quoting: Radagast the Brown It's not far, just a couple blocks away, but we have my daughters two outside cats. We dont want to lose them. Any tips on how to acclimate them to the new house? I know, wierd question, but we love those cats. Any advice would be helpful. Buy some wet food for a month or two... they won't forget that. |

I never had trouble indoors or out moving ... with them. except one who got frightened because door got left open in house we were moving from and it took a bit to get her back.. because the move was 1 1/2 miles away... but we did and she was so happy to have the new house when she saw all the furniture have moved too... If they are coming inside part time they WILL REMEMBER the furniture.. and once a friend drove to Florida and left her cat with me.. who had never been to my house.. and it got out a couple days later and the cat did know me and stayed tight... I put a bit of food on the porch.. no problems and I thus let it in and out as it wished. |
