Many would disagree. Not from a cheerleader philosophical perspective but from a point of reality. In his speech at the UN today Brandon basically said its a choice between the West or the Russo/Sino pill.

There it is. West or East. Therefore, either the flow of western weapons into Ukraine continues (likely accelerated) or the West capitulates;accepting the fall of the current world order.

I don't see the West accepting terms dictated by Vlad Putin.

War it shall be.

I've seen flights as cheap as 115 from the US to Europe right now.

What I find most interesting is that Putin claims that they have been fighting all of NATO, not just Ukraine and that they have still been achieving all of their goals. Not only that, but they have done so with less than 6000 of their own soldiers lost while decimating over half of the Ukrainian army in the process.

Yet, even with all this winning taking place, he feels the need to call up 300,000 reserves, which is more than the initial invasion force. And just to make his point even more threatening, he throws in the possibility of 25,000,000 more conscripts with the added bonus of using nuclear weapons.

If, he has already been handily defeating all of NATO as he suggests, why all of the chest thumping? Running on empty or bigger plans than he is willing to admit?

Me thinks both.

Putin's decision to partialy mobilise has been described as a decision taken in 'agony'. On Tuesday, the Russian parliament signed a law extending punishments for defaulting troops in an apparent move Putin is increasingly losing support from his own people. According to the UK Ministry of Defence, the move is a sign the Russian President is facing public criticism in the wake of his significant losses on the battlefield.


In a statement, the MOD said: "The Russian civilian and military leadership has faced significant pressure over the last two weeks. These new measures have highly likely been brought forwards due to public criticism and mark a further development in Russia's strategy.

"Putin is accepting greater political risk by undermining the fiction that Russia is neither in a war nor a national crisis in the hope of generating more combat power."

The Russian leader on Wednesday ordered Russia's first mobilisation since World War Two, warning the West that if it continued what he called its "nuclear blackmail", Moscow would respond with the might of all its vast arsenal.

Putin used a televised address to issue a nuclear threat, warning that his country would use all means at its disposal to protect its territory, adding: "It's not a bluff."

So... Now what?

Ukraine isn't going to accept more territorial losses to Russia.
Russia will obviously rig the results of the referendums in their favour.

The West can't afford to bow to Russia. If we allow the annexation of South & East Ukraine, then they'll be in the Baltics next.

All roads currently lead to somewhere, I don't think any of us want to go. And I don't see a way out of this, bar maybe an elaborate coup in Russia.

Well, I have a feeling a lot more things may be going on in Russia than we are privy to in the west.


We'll see.


And...nobody lives forever...even Vlad.
