Yes this could grow, and quickly.

More than half of the NATO member states are participating in bulking up
the Eastern end of the alliance. This includes ISR activities across all
battlefield domains, from the Med to the Arctic, in close proximity to
Russian forces and territory.

Every day thousands of members of the various forces patrol, surveil, and
reconnoiter. Surface combatants run their patrols close to boundaries and
borders, subs are playing their sneak and peek games, fighter jets scramble
to monitor Russian planes who are themselves monitoring NATO assets...
and around and around we go.

All pretty normal shit, except this is war time.

People are on edge. There is lots of shit moving around the sky, on the
sea and in the air.

Lots of potential for a BIG accident, misunderstanding, or fuckup.

Ask the Ukrainians if they are still not happier that Kherson is in Ukrainian hands -- even if it is uninhabitable.

From the beginning -- in fact, even before this operation began (more importantly), the Russians in their hubris under-estimated their enemy...both in his capability and his fortitude.
