It's most likely they threatened him. The hatred towards Trump by politicians was completely nuts. He was the leader of the United States and nearly every last politician hated his guts.

I get your view, you think he was just an actor who was part of their club. But he was devoted to bringing industry back to the country.

Like how the riots in Hong Kong and the 2019 Venezuelan protests/riots tied into the Trump administration tearing down a money laundering system setup during the Clinton era.

Trump outed all of it and even managed to put an end to the Chinese flooding American markets through their south American fronts. This was all part of the "trade war" with China. It was sooo much more. He was tearing apart their entire network piece by piece.

And since he's been gone the Biden administration has been quietly building it all back. Maybe that's the true meaning of Build Back Better..
