Woody Allen
I just watched (more or less) a few scenes from "Annie Hall" on TV. A movie that made Woody Allen famous, I think.

I can't help but feel this movie (with Diane Keaton) was pretty self-serving for him. There were a couple scenes with him fooling around a bit with Diane Keaton, kissing her, and it was so obvious like that movie was almost made just to give him that opportunity... poor guy.

What kind of person is Woody Allen anyway? I can't imagine that with that whining, argumentative way he has he had a lot of success with the ladies in real life.

And what about that scene, where he is asking his friend Max about those "high-pitched squealing sounds" he had heard while on the telephone... and Max replies "twins, 16 year old"... in this day and age, this would cause an uproar. The 70s really were different.

That's one thing... it must be said she was "only' his step-daughter (weren't all "his" children with Mia Farrow adopted in fact?)....

If I am correct and he had no natural children, this raises even more questions about him.

At that time, I was still young and sort of "open-minded" like we were all programmed to be, and I didn't see much harm in that sleazebag way of going about it(*).... but if you just give it a little thought.... ditching your wife just so you can marry your stepdaughter???

(*)Or rather, maybe I didn't dare express my real thoughts about it?

I was wrong about this, it appears Soon-Yi was Mia Farrow's adopted daughter but not his.

I believe that Woody Allen did in fact have a romantic relationship with Dianne Keaton.

"I had a huge crush on Woody right from the moment I saw him."
[link to www.thethings.com (secure)]

And he also was married to Mia Farrow, who was kind of a late 60's 'IT girl" after Rosemary's Baby.

Mr. Allen was wealthy, clever, a talented musician. I personally never thought he was as funny or clever as the media pushed him (perhaps because of his ethnicity).

His movies do seem self-serving, and interestingly Manhattan, a better film than Annie Hall, seems to be an admission on his part that he was attracted to the innocence of young girls.

Oh right - Mia Farrow was married to Sinatra earlier... I had forgotten about that.

But AFAIK Soon-Yi was not underage when he had a relationship with her, I think she was 19 in fact. That would not make Woody Allen a pedophile, now would it?

19 year old girls are big girls, you know.....
