It would be nice to see African Americans care this much about the shooting and looting in other states.

They pick and choose what they stand behind instead of changing their communities for the better.

Yes, these guys deserve prison but so do all the thugs who shoot up cities everyday

If a white guy drives through a mostly black parade this week will the MSM call it an unfortunate auto accident, or a hate crime?

Well I hate is that this case was used to get rid of Georgia's citizens arrest laws.

I liked those laws...

So, why weren't the teens in the John Weed case let go with a plea when they obviously murdered John Weed?

In fact none of it was public, all kept hush-hush.

What bullshit. The dindew tried to take the guys gun away. I would have fired in self defense as well.

Have you tried to find out what happened in the lead up?

These guys jumped in a truck and chased the dude down.

Because he was breaking into private property!!!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76837502

Nope, he explored a home construction site. He may have been looking for tools or whatever. But he didn't take anything at that time.
 Quoting: CK Dexter Haven

TBH, I have xplored construction sites.

Why?

Checking quality of workmanship to decide if I wanted to consider that builder for my construction job.

And while we are at it why did

Michael White
Joni Donley
Michael Hancock
Devon Dunham

all go free when they obvious murdered people.

White stabbed Sean in the back--and there were witnesses.

Sure would be nice if things were truly equal.

They chased a criminal down! Yes, they should have detained him alive until the police arried if posible, but make no mistake the "victim" was a criminal.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79876339

No.

He was snooping through a house under construction.

They should have called the police to report a prowler.

I would only advocate pursuing someone if you just witnessed a violent crime, while you are on the phone with 911 to let them know where the guy is traveling. Then when a police car shows up, you turn away and let them take care of business.

These dudes were assholes looking for trouble. They found it and ended up killing someone.
 Quoting: Lady Jane Smith

WRONG
Citizen's arrest
A citizen’s arrest is an arrest made by any person instead of by a police officer. In tort law, a citizen's arrest is something that any person can do without being held civilly liable for interfering with another person’s interests when that interference would otherwise constitute assault, battery, and false imprisonment. This means that any person can physically detain another in order to arrest them, but state statutes define the limited circumstances in which this deprivation of liberty is allowed.

If he were breaking into your home while you were in it, then yes you can use deadly force to defend yourself. If he broke into someone else's home and nobody's life was at risk, call the police and let them take care of this.

If you want to put yourself at risk (legal and or physical) by engaging as a 3rd party, be prepared to suffer the consequences. If you bring a firearm into the situation, understand that you have now raised the stakes and it might cost you your livelihood or your life.

These guys should have simply called the police and kept their distance until the police arrived. Now they have to deal with the consequences of being ignorant.

So if an aggressive, violent, stupid black man tries to rob you of a shotgun, you must let him take the shotgun.

If I were being chased by 3 men in vehicles, trapped, and approached at gunpoint unless they are cops or military im fighting for survival.

Those 3 chased him down like an animal. They had no reason to do a "citizens arrest" they were WRONG!

I disagree .

I followed this case from day 1 .

The guy was contiually going into that construction site and things were missing from cars and trucks on the block for weeks .

This guy was the 1 doing it !

He did not want to stay until the cops came and attacked the gun holder .

They were within the rights to detain him .

Even with a gun .

The jogger attacked the gun holder and got himself dead as a result .

All he had to do was WAIT for the Sherrif Deputy .

Remember that if you have a gun and someone with a criminal history rushes you to take it from you just let's them take your gun and continue casing your neighborhood that they don't live in because ya know that'd be racism n shit.
