Ways he'd still be alive today:

if he didn't repeatedly steal thousands of dollars of things from the house
if when confronted by the homeowner originally, didn't reach into his waist in a threatening manner
if the day of the shooting, he'd have just stopped and waited for the cops
if the day of the shooting, he'd have just kept running and not tried to reach for the shot gun

if the three men, two in particular, had not tried to detain him
if the three men, two in particular, had not been armed when confronting him.



Did I miss any?

As you can see, the death result is mostly on the burglar, in my opinion.... but this is not the legal opinion, it's just a look at what happened and what would have changed if behavior would have been different.

Legally, the three men weren't justified, according to the jury.

We should all live with the verdict and not burn any cities, loot any stores, or run over any innocent kids.
