I have a painting from 1970's bought for $50AUD by one of the original 1st-generation painting men of Papunya


Their sacred painted stories were traditionally only done in sand, bark or on the body, and were never revealed to strangers.

In the camps of the 70's (yes they were kept there) an art teacher called Geoff Bardon convinved some men to sell their paintings to the world, for reward. The sacred stories were soon stopped, in favor of more generic paintings, but mine is a ripper.

Some day I will donate it to the first nation people.
I am waiting.
