I dont know about maggots, but meal worms I do. I have a bowl of adult beetles in front of me right now they are for my chickens they get apx 100 a week. My son started farming them small scale for his lizards several months ago, now several generations latter he is ready to expand.

As far as eating them, We know they are safe for human consumption, But still I think not.
I will stick with sprouting, gardening chickens and rabbits!
