This is because you're raising your own. Factory farming and processing is what causes most of the contamination. Don't eat industrial meat and you're much safer. It's also much better to support local farmers. It may be more expensive up front, but the price for continuing to support the industrial food complex will be much greater in the long run.

One of the best ways to fight back against tyranny is to support local and natural food production.

Re: CDC: Don’t Wash Your Thanksgiving Turkey
Everyone should wash their turkeys with the sprayer on full blast and then deep fry them in the living room next to the curtains. Make sure to use a Colman stove and a standard sizes pot filled to the brim with the oil heated to 400 degrees.

Don't worry your animals and children can play near it... Let your dog hump the pot for extra flavor.
 Quoting: SagoP

I plan on blasting my turkey with the hose in the back yard, followed by a few dips in the hot tub. That should clean it well enough.

Use a full injection of Ivermectin in the Turkey before cooking just in case the Turkey is under cooked when served.

Or take a dose of it after dinner.

People in the Caribbean wash their meat with lemon or lime juice then rinse it off with water, cleaning the meat vs leaving it feels a bit more hygienic whether or not that is the facts of the matter or not, places I will never accept any advice on anything and certainly not my health are as follows, 1.government 2. Media 3.anything connected to the health industry, probably more sources I could tell to get to fuck but that’s all I have at the moment.

This is insane! What did they do? Douse the turkeys inside and out with the digestible form of the VAX? I'm scrubbing that bird to within an inch of it's life now!

Are they saying we are too stupid to clean and sanitize our own prep surfaces at home?! YES! They are! DUDE! Proper clean-up used to be taught in high school home economics class, AND in any food prep job.

Tired of this damn nanny-state..

Another point: They may have started advising against washing meat to cover their butts from lawsuits when it became apparent that their industrial meat is always going to have trouble with pathogens & contamination. (BTW, what idiot turns the faucet on full-force, splattering it all over the kitchen? They think they need to protect us from ourselves?)

Also, aren't they now saying it's just as good to wash your hands in cold water as hot? Right, that's why dishwashers & washing machines use cold water...not! (I know you can select a cold water wash for delicate items). I wonder why they also say to wash meat cutting boards & knives in warm, soapy water?

Re: CDC: Don’t Wash Your Thanksgiving Turkey
I’ve followed this recommendation for all meats without issue. If you can’t trust the residual juice, then go to a butcher you CAN trust.

I only pat dry. Besides, the majority of well-prepared birds should be wet-brined prior to cooking, so what does residual juice do? The main rule is to pat dry before preparation (pre-cook, or post-cook if sous vide), which applies to nearly all protein.

That said. The fact the CDC is recommending this practice has me wary this holiday…

Obviously when you take certain parts out, whether you eat them or not,you will have to rinse it?pat it dry?

What they say is true for people who have no knowledge of cross contamination.

Just saying

There is no way to prepare it properly without rinsing a abit

But their warning is for humans i assume that are the same ones that need a warning on a frozen pizza

To cook before eating

Everyone should trust their instinct, but many many many

Do not have that.

I understand the fear and doubt because the way the world is now
The mistrust the conspiracy and the truth gets lost

Most people have too much ego and pacification to want to know the truth.

Im not even a conspiracy theorist

I know of biological warfare and espionage
And what can follow

I just want to say

That some organizations give good advice and actually do gaf and care

They have family too

Some dont have anyone

But they do their job

Quite honestly the fear mongering here is fucking pathetic

Re: CDC: Don’t Wash Your Thanksgiving Turkey
most birds come from Minnesota and if you go to the plants that kill birds and rap birds you will see they spray every bird with something that glows if the bird is bad. they cut the bad part off.(why there are one lagged ones) but what they spray on it is still there. so yes you have to wash all birds if only to get this stuff off, yes it will not kill you but who wants to eat it.
there may be trasses of the bad part of the bird still there so wash to get any of this off also. being it takes 3 days to get bird ready washing is also a good thing.
as fare as i know all cooks clean after cleaning a bird so all is good for this and anyone that does not clean up after washing a bird should get sick. anyone that cleans a bird and all the kitchen needs cleaning needs to stop cooking.

People who write this crap are borderline mentally challenged. The turkey has to be opened somewhere. It doesn't just go straight from the grocery store into the oven. It's in a big old bag that has to be opened. Juices have to spill all over.
People are not standing directly over the garbage can when they open the turkey. They are doing it in the sink. All those turkey juices that they claim should never be in your sink. Are going to be in your sink. Unless they're all over your counter.

Unless you are eating your turkey raw the heat from cooking will do so much more than washing it and you don’t need to wash down all your kitchen after doing it.

Re: CDC: Don’t Wash Your Thanksgiving Turkey
With Thanksgiving almost here, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has issued tips on the safest way to prepare your turkey.

First of all, you should not wash or rinse your bird. That may seem counterintuitive, but washing the turkey can spread germs and bacteria all over your kitchen.
[link to www.webmd.com (secure)]

Do not wash or rinse raw turkey. Federal food safety advice has recommended against washing turkey or chicken since 2005, but some habits are hard to break. A 2020 survey* found that 78% of participants reported washing or rinsing turkey before cooking. Old recipes and family cooking traditions may tempt you to keep this practice going, but it can make you and your family sick. Poultry juices can spread in the kitchen and contaminate other foods, utensils, and countertops.

 Quoting: REINSBLUT

COOK YOUR FOOD ABOVE 165°F ALL IS WELL

At what temperature is bacteria killed in turkey?
165°F

The USDA reports that heating poultry to at least 165°F destroys Salmonella, Campylobacter bacteria, and avian influenza viruses. That's because, above a certain temperature, the bacteria's cell will collapse and die.
