Guess how many times I've gotten sick from handling raw poultry and not even washing my hands...
Zero
And we raise and butcher our own chickens
Quoting: becuzisaidno This is because you're raising your own. Factory farming and processing is what causes most of the contamination. Don't eat industrial meat and you're much safer. It's also much better to support local farmers. It may be more expensive up front, but the price for continuing to support the industrial food complex will be much greater in the long run. One of the best ways to fight back against tyranny is to support local and natural food production. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30527188 Another point: They may have started advising against washing meat to cover their butts from lawsuits when it became apparent that their industrial meat is always going to have trouble with pathogens & contamination. (BTW, what idiot turns the faucet on full-force, splattering it all over the kitchen? They think they need to protect us from ourselves?) Also, aren't they now saying it's just as good to wash your hands in cold water as hot? Right, that's why dishwashers & washing machines use cold water...not! (I know you can select a cold water wash for delicate items). I wonder why they also say to wash meat cutting boards & knives in warm, soapy water?
