I just bought a new computer (last March) ... well, I have to admit, Joe Biden bought it for me (last stimulus check) and it had WIN 10 and I was not impressed ... and I assume this version has a lot more "back doors" and snooping devices ...

anyone tried it yet ... what's your opinion of Win 11?

Re: Anyone getting Windows 11 - I see it is free right now -
is it free to everyone, or just people who bought a computer in the last year ? (It's a Dell)

an icon just showed up on my task bar (with a blue dot) I've just ignored it ... for the past month or so - but I'm curious

what I would like to see is an OS that doesn't need to be "upgraded" ever f'ing week ... what's up with that ?

i've upgraded all my windows devices to 11. if you're on 10 there is no reason to not be on 11. think of 11 as a major update for 10.

windows 11 performs much better on ALL hardware that was running windows 10.

tip, you can disable the new right click context menu with a registry edit.

Thanks ... just about anything would be an improvement over 10 - personally I thought 8.2 was better ... haven't really like any of their upgrades since Win 7 - seems like they were all superficial changes - and more auto-links to propaganda "announcements"

Note: Some Windows 10 features aren't available in Windows 11. Certain apps and features may have additional requirements.

I just recently got my printer to work in 10 - the scanner worked fine, but not the printer and I had to go through a "driver updater" to get the right driver to fix the printer

still can't get my back-up device to work - it erased everything - and none of my pics were saved in "the cloud" - felt like that was intentional -

one more post to get it back on the front page, for those coming out of the food coma ... or back home - must be more than one person who had downloaded Win 11

thanks for your input ... I remember when 10 was released, there were a dozen topics about it ... seems strange that 11 has been out for a while and no one has anything to say about it

They make it damn hard to get rid of
-cortana
-xbox game crap
-microsoft 'store'
-cloud drive
and all their other crap you just know they plan to monetize.

Wouldn't surprise me the least bit if Google and Bill Gates are already planning an 'update' so your computer won't turn on and you can't access the internet on your phone without scanning your Covid passport to keep you 'safe'.

I put it on my kitchen table laptop of no importance. It's not ready for production use or as your main computer. It still crashes fairly frequently. My kitchen laptop is only 1 year old and its not a potato so its not my hardware that was running fine until the "upgrade". I don't see that it brings anything to the table except more lockdown and more spyware "features".

Imagine Microsoft being so bad that they have to give away operating systems.

I thought Windows 10 was "the last Windows ever"... I guess they were wrong.

now we talking ... even Juan Star showed up

so I don't see any recommendations ... so far

I'm beginning to believe that no one had anything to say, because there is nothing remarkable about it and everyone hates gates LOL

but thanks again for the input - I sure don't want an OS that crashes all the time ... it's bad enough they need to be upgraded every other day.
