Dow down 400? That is fucking nothing. Shit my current options went from 25k to .01 cents. In a day. I was a little curious about it and obviously didn't sell but the next day, 30k.

It all moves and until this shitfuck we call a market finally all collapses, it will continue to do so.

If the stock market ever completely fails, then losing all your money in it would be irrelevant anyway because so did every other person. The music stops. The debts ends ( no one to enforce it ) and whatever you have is yours until the bigger gun takes it from you.



There’s zero reason not to invest at any time. It will only grow. Until it doesn’t and there’s still zero reason not to keep investing because now it’s on sale. Up or down doesn’t matter as long as it’s still there.


Example. 2008. John sees a depression on the horizon and sells out. Converts to bonds or metal or property (ha) and makes a modest 3-5% short term while those who kept in the market lost 50%. But those people may have lost 50% in value but they were gaining in quantity. When the market went up ( which is what they do so long as they still exist ) John sold bonds and bought back in thinking he was smart. Never understanding that compound interest doesn’t just apply to bank rates, it applies to dividends as well as being able cost average during bad times.



If you’re a 20 something reading this, now is the time to learn the basics and invest. Keep investing. As time is the single greatest asset to making money here. It’s true too. 10k yearly and you’re a millionaire within 20 years for a 240k investment and time. You’re welcome.

Because of never selling a single share in '08 I was able to retire early in 2021. Oh yeah, didn't sell in 2020 either. I know people that panic sell when down 20%. I don't sell when down even 40%! What I do is sell OTM puts for income until the stock recovers and I can sell green. This works every single time, and yes you have to be patient. Sometimes it takes a few weeks, sometimes a few months.

On the ym futures at $5 a tick they are up 3500 per contract.

Trade 20 contracts and ur up 70,000.00
Trade 100 contracts and you are up 350,000.00

Less than 10% own stock? Really? Every pension plan contains stocks unless self directed to exclude stocks. Every public employee's retirement system is mixed with stocks,bonds,real estate. The largest mutual funds for IRAs,403b,SEP IRAs,401s, almost all contains stocks in some percentage. The markets react to bad news but hate the unknown even more. Right now you have Covid with various strains,inflation booming and a very unsettled future. So, what and where to invest? Not sure therefore retreat and wait for further information. With a DOW at 36,000, a few hundred point swing is hardly doom. A 5% correction would be 1,500+ point drop. Relax,breathe. You can't talk the market up or down.
