And it's the same with gasoline. I buy the most expensive or wait till it goes up.

First time in history that the majority of the planet have access to the internet ( first time in history there is an internet ).

First time in history that there is a global currency that everyone knows and can get access to.

First time in history that stock crowd funding was invented.

First time in history that applications for trading stocks on the Dow on the internet by anyone in the world using a smart device are developed in history.

If the stock market ever completely fails, then losing all your money in it would be irrelevant anyway because so did every other person. The music stops. The debts ends ( no one to enforce it ) and whatever you have is yours until the bigger gun takes it from you.

Example. 2008. John sees a depression on the horizon and sells out. Converts to bonds or metal or property (ha) and makes a modest 3-5% short term while those who kept in the market lost 50%. But those people may have lost 50% in value but they were gaining in quantity. When the market went up ( which is what they do so long as they still exist ) John sold bonds and bought back in thinking he was smart. Never understanding that compound interest doesn’t just apply to bank rates, it applies to dividends as well as being able cost average during bad times.



If you’re a 20 something reading this, now is the time to learn the basics and invest. Keep investing. As time is the single greatest asset to making money here. It’s true too. 10k yearly and you’re a millionaire within 20 years for a 240k investment and time. You’re welcome.
