I'd rather push my Harley than ride a Honda.

We gotta smoke out all the haters here. Been a while since the HD bashers showed themselves.

Honda 600 silverwing maxi-scooter and a 250 Honda reflex scooter. Daily commuter here. Only cage it when absolutely necessary, which is maybe 1x per month. Love the “slow and low” motto. Life’s to short to ride fast. Nice thread and nice bike!!

I enjoyed reading that the piston rings wear out after 25k!

I sold my heritage heritage soft tail with 42k on her and never touched a piston ring.

I’m really considering getting an iron 1200 for next summer. Been spending a lot of time on the trails the last three years and miss the open road a bit.

Hope you’re doing well man, I was glad to hear Missouri stood up against covid tyranny, you live in an awesome state!

Nothing wrong with being off the road. When I was younger I spent a lot of time in the boonies. What I liked about it was the fact that if something bad happened, at least you didn't check out due to a bluehair running a light or turning left in front of you.

As far as MO is concerned, we have our faults but we ARE standing up to covid tyranny, the 2nd Amendment, and open/conceal carry without permits.

There are worse places to be than Missouri.

1988 xlh 883 rider here.
Bike was rebuilt twice - first time it got flooded and was a mess, second time (right after it was rebuilt the first time) it caught fire and was totally destroyed so I had to rebuild it again and totally rewire it, yeah it got personal. But it’s a better bike now than it ever was.

Re: Any other Harley Riders out there?
Not sure how many Harley riders are into conspiracy, lol.

From the many I have met over the years, I would say quite a few!!!

I ride an Iron 883, had bigger bikes in the past, this one just rides slow and low.

cheers

Re: Any other Harley Riders out there?
As they rode by I did notice that they were newer bikes. I don’t know what year but they were at least modern.

The evolution engine doesn't burn or leak oil any more than a car. But like a car, it might be worn out.

The AMF era Harley's were known for being leakers.

Other than boring jugs, re ringing a Harley can be done on the side of the road. It is a simple design and easy to work on.

My old 1997 Harley that I have owned 23-24 years runs better than it did when new! After I had the cam upgraded my first year and changed out the stock import carb to a S&S. My bike did drip a bit of oil ( cam bearing ) for a few thousand miles but somehow sealed the leak itself and never leaked a drop of oil again the last 20 years!

All I do is oil changes often with Dyno oil (never synthetic)
Never a drop of Ethanol only pure gas with my mix of marvel mystery oil and Sta-ble gas stabilizer, a battery tender when not riding and a new battery every 5 years, tires when needed and she runs better than new!

That EVO motor with a S&S carb and regular oil changes will last forever I do believe...
