Help advice from cooks, my electric roaster died
I swear, I've looked all day online and can't find the answer.

I'm going to cook a huge deep pan of lasagna in my electric roaster, but it died.

The removable insert of the roaster seems to be a thin coat of enamel over metal.

Can I put this in my regular oven?

I could go buy some cheap disposable aluminum turkey roasting trays and double them up to handle the food weight and reload the lasagna into them but what a mess.

Help! Advise! Please!

Roaster is fine, enamel is good. Cooking in an aluminum pan isn't any better. I actually do my T-day Turkey in an aluminum pan on a baking sheet, and never had any problems in 30+ years.

It'll be just fine. Peace.

I agree, I see no problems with doing that, it’s made to take high heat.
Forgive your enemies, it messes with their heads.

Thanks for the advice!

I'm going to go ahead and use the roaster pan in the oven.
I don't feel safe using the disposable flimsy aluminum trays and even with a baking sheet base this pan is really heavy.

And, yes my roaster goes up to 450° so my oven will be cooler than that for baked lasagna.

I was concerned about the heat shock making the thin enamel crack up, so I'll be sure to cook it off slowly after baking is done.

Yes, that should work. They do sell aluminum lasagna pans that are a little sturdier, but there is always that chance of failure. If you use one, put it on a large cookie sheet to make it easier to remove from the oven.

Depending upon when you need it, you could get a new one from Amazon by Tues or Wed. Maybe you could fine a used one at a Goodwill if you called around.

The heater element usually is of a wire that cannot be soldered, but must be connected at a compression rivet.
That spot often develops high resistance.

Hope you can repair it.

Maybe you blew a fuse and the outlet is dead...not your electric roaster.

Try plugging something else into that outlet to see if it's still live.

Lasagna in an electric roaster? Your broken roaster could be a message from God not to do this to lasagna.

Solved.

It's possible. I make great lasagna but this would be a first time massive bake for me.
