People can't eat or drink precious metals so actual goods will hold more value until goods become readily available again and infrastructure is somewhat restored. |

User ID: 49285406 United States 11/28/2021 07:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I own a mobile home on property I own. The home is about 28 years old. For 25 years, the home was assessed at the same value I paid for it. Quoting: Crunch62 The past two years, the value (and my taxes on the home) have increased each year. Please explain to me how a 25+ year old mobile home can appreciate in value? The damn thing is falling apart. Nor Cal Mine too. Unfortunately as property becomes more valuable, the more they raise the taxes. I no longer pay them in full. I pay some reasonable amount on them every month to keep them from going into foreclosure which will result in an amount we can't pay, which is what they really want. Same with the power co. Every winter I get them to give me an installment plan and pay on it monthly. Then in the spring and summer, when we need way less, I keep making the payments and then start over in the winter. Alcohol and drugs eat up a lot of money, we don't have that expense at all. If you feel you need it, try budgeting. People can make their own if they really want to. People need to learn how to cook. For supper we made pasta with beef strips, (organic) 7 dollars, onion, garlic, tomato soup, for two, about 10 dollars. Oranges, cocoa, coffee as needed. I really think this mess is going to go on for about 4 more years at least, but all we have to do is persevere until the end, whatever that is. Our power situation is just the opposite. Being on a private well, it takes a lot of power to water the garden and the olive trees. Here in Nor Cal, summer temps can be over 100 for weeks at a time. We do have a small A/C unit in the bedroom so that we can sleep, which also uses a lot of power. This past August, our bill was over $300. In the winter, we use very little. We heat with a wood pellet stove. In February, the bill is typically about $45. We cook all of our food at home, mostly from scratch. Never any fast food. We eat at a restaurant maybe once a year. I do like my beer, though. I guess I'll have to switch to cheaper beer, but that stuff goes down like water and has no taste. I've been married so long, I don't even look both ways when I cross the street. |

Last week the price went up to over $8 Cheap pizza used to be $5 or $6. Last week even the cheap pizza is up to $8.99-$10.99 That's just a couple examples but everything from rice, bread and especially meat is all going through the roof here. Luckily I've been stocking up and we hunt up here, so we have fresh deer meat and have chickens for eggs. Oh and gas is about $3.15 which is definitely better than some other areas in the country but compared to two years ago 3.15 is expensive as fuck. The Whole World Is A Stage |

I got tired of buying cheap electric can openers at Walmart that would die within a month or two. I brought the hand crank can opener in from my old camp trailer. It is a wall mount, made of real metal. Called a Can-O-Mat. Probably from the early 1960s. That was over 15 years ago and it is still going strong. It will likely outlast me. The majority of my tools (I have many) are US made. Some are older than I am. Not Harbor Freight junk. They will also be handed down someday. Quoting: eyeDR3 I've been needing to do a few things on my vehicle. Not only are parts extremely scarce but they have doubled and even in some cases TRIPLED in cost! That one hit me in the gut. I just need shocks, struts and a new windshield. Struts are either unavailable and listed at rather standard prices or doubled in cost. Windshield has tripled from 170 to over 400 bucks. When I'm done there I'll just need some minor things and she's winter ready. The nearest junkyard closed up a year ago so I travel far to one and they usually don't have my vehicle there. I've been lucky for most parts but lately no dice. Food has obviously gone way up too. Everyone I spoke with spent quite a lot this year for Thanksgiving. The great shitstorm has arrived.
