Think of humanity as a super organism. A hive mind (although we are only conneted through the internet... not our actual minds... but there are such things as mirror neurons which is very interesting....)
I believe humanity is just going through some growing pains since we are only 200k years old. Our mirror neurons are firing off at a crazy rate right now. We feel what other people are feeling.
