I’d like to think we can skip the stone-age, park at the pre-Industrial age for a while to survive/repopulate and once we have the leisure of time, stability and safety then start to re-create our (formerly known as?) “modern” technology (electronics, computing, etc) before all living memory and knowledge of manufacturing and functional properties are lost.

I feel your pain and understand. I wish I had words of encouragement, but it would feel silly at this point. Just know there are a tiny percentage of people feeling just like you do. The rest are either part of the problem, or in complete denial (my opinion is this is the majority). I wish my eyes weren’t open, I wish I could float in that cloud of ignorance they live in.

Once you see, you see…and there’s no going back. Look for the small things that get you through from one day to the next. Learn to live with the new reality. I’m too much of a realist to think we can fight our way out of this. Remind yourself that every generation had dealt with its own revolutions…this is the one we’ve been dealt, no matter how unfair. To try to understand would be in vain.

Cherish the small gifts we have left. Our loved ones…our full bellies…our warm bed at night…the beauty and innocence of the animals around us. Narrow your focus - to include only what fits in your heart. Don’t hate the rest - don’t try to understand it…relinquish the need for answers. Put that effort in to what CAN be controlled at this point.

I want to give in at least once a day - getting used to that nagging feeling. The feeling of waving the white flag. Comes as I was dishes, do laundry…the most banal errands when the mind wanders, looking for a fucking clue. Then I see my little dog look at me with unconditional love and I know no matter what, I am loved and valued in some way. And can give that love right back ten-fold. But I do guard that love I have left - I use it as a tool - for motivation to wake up the next day.

Whatever it is that gives you that second wind…every…fucking…day…I sincerely wish that for those of you that find yourselves in the pit. I have stopped trying to look for ways to dig my way out…and have done my best to make it the most liveable I can. Like it or not, we’re here and don’t know when the lease is up…might as well decorate.
