[link to www.youtube.com (secure)] Other articles like to say global warming is the cause, but they fail to leave out the fact that the planet has been warming since long before modern man existed evidenced by the glaciers that used to cover down to NYC, and that it is all cyclical. The oceans will absorb much of the carbon released. New vegetation will absorb and contain the rest. Carbon is energy in a sense in that is contained in just about everything on the planet. The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed, only altered in form, hence a forest fire in this case. Without carbon, there is no life. The planet is a huge recycling facility. Just as we are now seeing with the volcanic eruptions forming new land... as plate tectonics create mountains and drive 'land' into the Earth where is is melted and eventually builds new land as the volcanoes under the sea break the surface over millions of years.
