Yogis don't dream, have little need for sleep,
is this stunted dream development or is dreaming mind noise that doesn't stop when asleep?

Dreams play a role in our cognitive development. We take in experiences from the day, that then start to 'replay' as the hippocampus sends stored memories back into the brain for learning-development and long-term memory storage.

The mind-noise is a normal part of premeditate sleep, where replay begins. Most people go unconscious before they even notice the mind-noise. Lot's of people do end up with rumination when stress, anxieties, worry, concerns, negative-thinking can kick in, it's good to then calm that noise down as negative-thinking is still going to influence the dream.
