I think the current system is insolvent. If it collapses TPTB will lose control. The exit plan is to move to a no growth, sustainable (i.e feudal) system, where energy is partitioned by decree and allocated down to the cooperative subjects. They can't do this if all energy producers do not cooperate. Russia is not cooperating....
