Back in my punk rock days this skinhead skater dude once told me that the government wants you to smoke pot. It wants you to smoke pot and then sit inside your house and stare at your TV. That is the ideal person for it.

People do drugs. They don't 'do' weed. They smoke weed.
Being acutely aware of what's going on in one's head is called mindfulness, which is a good thing. Don't knock till ya try it! Not gonna argue with you about it, but your post caught my eye and I thought I would that out.

Weed enhances neural plasticity which is something that one can use to create a greater abundance of beneficial neural connections if one pays close attention to what one is doing with their attention while the thc is in effect;)

Conversely, this enhanced neural plasticity can be deleterious if one is smoking weed to escape for the same reason; the new neural arrangements will be fragmented and give rise to all the stereotypes about stoners being forgetful and lazy!

For me it's medicine that clears away the programmed b.s., depression takes a backseat, and I can work, clean, hang with my kids, and do projects that get put off due to chronic depression. It's a gift I'm thankful for. It does affect people differently, it's not for everyone.
