Thanks, that’s my take on it as well. Since Israel’s call-up of reserves today, it looks like that theater will be open for business in a few week’s time, or possibly less. The ground has now gotten hard enough to support armor in the Ukraine and environs, so there’s that.

China is in the process of converting, and has already converted, large numbers of commercial vessels to troop transports and landing ships:

On a related note vis. China/Taiwan, were you aware that the Chinese made very explicit nuclear threats to Japan this past summer, to the effect that they would attack them with nuclear weapons if they interfered with any “repatriation”, as they referred to it, of Taiwan?

Complicating the issue is that, according to certain sources, Japan has around 100 to 150 nuclear devices, all fission weapons ranging from mini-nukes to yields around 100kt, and has had them since the late 1980s (by internal agreement, the works and casings are kept in far separate locations from their plutonium “pits”)... the U.S. wasn’t aware of this until some time after they had been created.
