The Devil's Advocate (the movie)
Rewatched some scenes from "The Devil's Advocate". (Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves). I've always thought it was a very good movie, unique and well done.

What better time to review how evil manifests in our world. The premise of the movie seems to be the devil is always there to "offer" you opportunities, opportunities that would be morally wrong, but beneficial for you. Keanu being a lawyer and representing seedy characters whose guilt is more than likely.

Is this the only way? Is there no way to be "successful" or "powerful" without losing your values? Or does it even matter? Survival of the fittest, willing to do whatever to get what they want?

One interesting fact I learned was that Trump's NYC apartment was used as the home of a suspected billionaire murderer in the film. I find it odd Trump would allow his apartment to be used at all, let alone in this context. I assume he was paid a decent amount for this, but this is also one of the movies where Keanu supposedly took a large pay cut so that Al Pacino could be in the film.

Al Pacino is a great actor, every film you see with him seems to be "one of his best performances". Keanu is reportedly one of the most down to earth people, especially for Hollywood. He lost his pregnant girlfriend to a likely OD from a Marilyn Manson party years ago. When Stephen Colbert asked him "What happens after we die, Keanu Reeves?", Keanu avoided being controversial to either side by saying "The ones that love us will miss us".

Ah, the 90's. I wonder if we'll be looking back in 20 some years and say "Ah, remember the 2020's? Those were the days."
