Bitcoin is not saved on a hard drive or on a usb stick. Its saved on the blockchain.

If you have a USB ledger for example you could smash it with a hammer and your Crypto would still be safe. All you need is the passphrase.

And you should NEVER keep your passphrase on a computer hard drive. They can be hacked so many ways.

It is totally, I remember when it first at around £1000 a bitcoin and the hype was building about it, and the press release, the picture then to the more recent picture of the guy, is quite differant, he now has that 1000yd stare and looks very similair in expressions as the first Guy after pressing play, in this famous clip, and that is him against the local politicians and their minions:

You could on a normal PC mine and expect to be able to over a few months get a coin at the very very least, if left on all the time doing just that, one old very basic PC.

I remember a price of £7 a full coin and nearly bought a lot ....wish I had indeed now obviously.

This story didn't make sense last time it was told...

In mid-2013, 7,500 BTC was worth $1 million. Nobody 'forgets' they have $1m on a hard drive. Who would mine 7,500 BTC and then not back it up? No IT guy would have done that.

If somebody throws away something of great value, they do not wait for more than six months to try and get it back. This guy claims he forgot he had $1m on his hard drive in mid-2013 and threw it away. He then tried to get it back in 2014.

"Newport City Council has been contacted a number of times since 2014 about the possibility of retrieving a piece of IT hardware said to contain Bitcoins. The first time was several months after Mr Howells first realised the hardware was missing."

For how long had he not been using the computer when he threw it away? If he had been mining a short time before he threw it away, it makes even less sense that he would have 'forgotten'.

I call BS on this story.
