The law of Moses was / is a decentralized system of governance. Understand it, and you need no king.

Priests denounce it, preachers call it evil, j3^^s ignore it, atheists point at the sins of the previous three and throw the baby out with the bathwater. I grantee that you have never considered it. Here's a clue, the end of Exodus to the end of Deuteronomy is perhaps the most revolutionary text ever written.
