I have two poodles at my parents house.
One of them was hurt two time by dogs in two years.

Now i have to learn them again to sociabilize with other dogs.

The female try to defend the male that is trembling when he see other dogs, then try to bit the other dogs if going at nose level.


I try to avoid to pull on the leash, but instead make them walk at a closer distance each time but not less than one meter.

Depending of the dogs, now they try to play with them, but once one of the poodle is nose to nose, it does degenerate.

I Found that blocking one of the poodle sight to other dogs by kneeling in front of it while moving if he try to focus again on the dog may help, sometime it's just about talking to it to distract him, other just a firm no with no emotions if the voice, it's not a punishment, and poodles should not be punished by been really really firm with them.

Now it's going better and better, but even the previous family dog was playing with other dogs before, then a dalmation bit him on the leg, he had to go to veterinarian, in urge.

I was never been able to calm him. He was even biting the groomers.

I tryed to be more strict with the previous poodle but it did nothing.

I am maybe not good at taming pets, i think animals take too much time to recover from mental injuries.

I know i should not let the dog that i have fear of other dogs.

In fact when i'm outside with my parents time to time i ask other dogs owners if i can caress the dogs, i show them my fist, and if they accept i caress the dogs.

I dunno if it help my poodles to see other dogs are not dangerous, but it try to find any methods i can.

If a dog with no leash is turning around the poodles, i try to not take them in my arms, but instead i try to talk to them calmly with a grave voice to calm them if possible, i just try to move as my poodle move to block the view from the other dog without leash turning arounnd them, in hope they give up on wanting to defend a territory.

I think i will see a dog trainer, next time, just to say it's not easy to train pets, and just one bit from other animals, and all the work has to be done again sadly :(

They should all be spayed or neutered before they reach breeding age. That way someday they'll all be gone and we'll be rid of them.
People buy them and use them as threats or personal protection. They can be a deadly weapon with no responsibility for the owner/operator. I've seen videos where the dog was released deliberately by criminal scum.

Pits are the “assault rifle” of the dog world. They look scary and demonized because of that. In reality they are the biggest babies there is on 4 legs. Also if ANY dog isn’t properly raised/trained it will bite.

It’s not a problem with the animal it’s a problem with the owners. I’m not just talking about the thugs who breed them to fight but the uneducated owners who don’t know how to raise a “family” dog.

We had a Rottweiler who was non aggressive. He hit 8 yrs old and got a lump on his leg. My husband had the attitude of oh he’s fine. He started to ge5 kranky and I wanted him to be put down. My husband refused. We ran our office from home on a property and lots of people would drive in. Had friends over and a little boy pulled on his ear and he snapped at him. Didn’t bite him just snapped. I freaked and said the dog has to go.
My husband refused and blamed the kid. I said it does t matter why he did it. He’s obviously in pain and angry. Again the dog has to go. My husband refused.
A few weeks later we were out having lunch and got a call from a man who was barricaded in our office and said a big black dog had bitten him and he ran into the office and shut the door. We raced home and locked the dog up and let the guy out. He had t have stitches and only asked for medical costs and replacement of his ripped pants. My hisaband didnt even want to pay for that because he said there were warnings that a guard dog was on duty. I freaked again and demanded he pay the guys bills before he sued us and he relented and paid the bill but still refused to have him put down.
My stepdaughter bred miniature horses on the property and they were behind an electric fence but I said to my husband he’s going to kill a horse. Pfft he said he won’t do that. 2 weeks later he jumped that electric fence and ripped the throats out of 3 foals in about 15 minutes. No one could stop him. He’d gone completely rabid. Took 3 guys to get him and hit him with pieces of wood to stop him. My stepdaughter was devastated and only then did he agree to have the dog culled.
The vet told us after he put him down that he was riddled with cancer and was in pain.
I was furious with my then husband for ignoring the warnings.
I’ve never owned or trusted any dog since.

When we were kids we use to hop yards and run through the neighborhood. Plenty of dogs chased and even got a few bites in before letting go because of the screams.

We have a Belgian Malinios, and she could be mistaken for a furcoated chainsaw on meth when alerting, however, she responds to commands, is protecting the family and I'm unwavered at leaving her alone with small children. I'd be more concerned about a stranger walking up to said small children while she's around..

To sit here and claim as most of these morans are, that EVERY pitbull is predisposed to violence is a sign of vast ignorance. Certain bloodlines are worst than others and mutts being the worst. German Shepherds can be just as vicious. The difference is the owner, the commands and the training.
