I came to the conclusion that most of the people who were interested in understanding the Sefer Yetzirah were people with jobs in the stock market ... and their wives ...
apparently they used the formulas to make themselves incredibly wealthy ... I'm talking "more money than god" ... their wives were deep into the horoscopes ... and planned all their babies (to the moment of conception through a hole in a sheet) - in hopes of getting a reincarnated "saint"
I have never been motivated by money, my interest was good health and getting to heaven (at that time) and I did learn a great deal about "clean" food ... which results in good health ... loved those Mediterranean meals especially on holy days ... when we all danced and sang - the ancient songs

I trust that their English translation is correct - I studied at their "school" for three years, and ten did my own studies for another two year - I went to special events and Madona was there with her friend from Hollywierd ... and she was jumping up and down with us screaming "immortalit NOW !!" with us ... HA I still remember lesson one - the faults you find in others are your OWN ... you recognize them because you are so familiar with them ... we are mirrors for each other - so that we can see what we need to correct in our own lives The books are sitting on my shelf - half of them still tn the protective wrapping (never opened) - the school is on-line now ... check it out [ link to kabbalah.com (secure)] rab Berg is dead - last I heard - his much younger wife is running thing ... but that's been twenty years ago - I moved away - my husband refused to pay for more "lessons" he woudldn't wear the bennie, and hated the shawl LOL but the final straw was when they told him he would have to get circumized (again) because his was not done with the magic letter .... I did read the YS - several times - it made a lot of sense to me - I don't consider any of that time a "waste" I learned a lot from the Kabbalist
