Winds are more manageable but it's not enough. This will be closer to 1500 homes and many many businesses that were already struggling. Very very spontaneous and horrific. So so sad. I hope there is no loss of life. My God I really hope they aren't bullshitting about snow coming. :memorybanner: |

The will of the people is the only legitimate foundation of any government, and to protect its free expression should be our first object. ~ Thomas Jefferson, Inaugural Address, 1801 It is not only vain, but wicked, in a legislator to frame laws in opposition to the laws of nature, and to arm them with the terrors of death. This is truly creating crimes in order to punish them. ~ Thomas Jefferson, 1779 |

It is much harder to fight and spreads much more quickly. Also, hundred mile an hour winds already present will be strengthened by the flame. The entire town of old town Superior is gone. :memorybanner: |

Live aftermath footage. That's a horrible situation I feel really bad for anyone involved. Back in the late 90s I lived in Saint Lucie county and a huge fire burned down half the town. It was so scary, by the time we left we were out of time. Both sides of my street were on fire, only the road stopped us from being burnt. Luckily we used a generator to power our well pump and soaked the house and yard until the last second. It saved our home. Our yard and house was the only thing for a block not burned down it looked so weird seeing our green yard. Many weren't so lucky and had to be displaced while their homes were rebuilt. I really feel for them, losing absolutely everything is horrible. |

Live aftermath footage. Their homes burned down because they didn't stay and use a hose to keep the embers from igniting their houses. That's not in deep woods with large trees surrounding their houses. So it would have been easy to put out a spot fire whenever an ember caught on their roof. It's only when your house is surrounded by huge trees on fire that you have to give up. One of these days they might invent a roof that doesn't catch hot embers. |

If they have to evacuate, this is going to be a shitstorm of epic proportions. OK... USE YOUR MIND No, it's always an ember caught on the roof. Of course, a fireman's air tank and mask would be useful for the smoke if you stay behind as that can cause lasting health problems if you expose yourself to smoke. But I've seen time and time again where it is just a smoking edge of the roof that starts the house on fire. The strong wind is what spreads it like a blow torch. The embers can spread for miles. No deep state weapons are needed. |

No offense, but you are very misinformed or simply ignorant of the many different ways fire can move and ignite. In 100mph winds, you aren't doing anything with a hose against a fire traveling faster than you can drive. Also, fire travels FASTER in grass, flatlands and neighborhoods especially fueled by winds as there is no obstruction. Sometimes more concentrated trees would be better in a fire. Then, heat from massive fires creates its own wind and weather and you end up with a firestorm like you saw today. People said they were driving over 100mph to get away and the fire was still keeping up with them. The ground is dry and brittle, grey brown and yellow. Hard as rock. Trees have downed leaves. This is not a good time for a fire. :memorybanner: |
