Huge asteroid will pass Earth safely January 18
A large stony asteroid will safely pass Earth on January 18, 2022.

Its estimated size is around 3,280 feet (about 1 km or .6 of a mile), around 2 1/2 times the height of the Empire State Building.

As you can see from this asteroid’s label – (7482) 1994 PC1 – it’s been known since 1994.

It is classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid due to its size and relatively close known flybys of our planet.

Nice can see it with my telescope but a little over 5 times further than the moon.

How are you and the family feeling Stella?

We are all sick here with the Covid except our 6 year old daughter. She is running around like nothing has happened lol.

We are hanging in there. Been riding the couch all day. I feel like someone beat me with a baseball bat. Our boy is the same age as your daughter, he is laying around one minute and bouncing off the walls the next. Prayers and good vibes to you all!

Wait, how can there be asteroids hurtling through space and coming toward us if the earth is flat like everyone here thinks?

Sending prayers to you and your family.

It was a rainy but warm day here in Pennsylvania so we all just hung around the house.

The fever is the worse part of this and if I dont feed myself tylenol ever 6 - 8 hours I will feel like a baseball bat hit me when my fever reaches 102F+

I just reread this and "stony" asteroid jumped out at me. Is that an actual scientific term?

Makes me wonder if there are, by contrast, spongy, nerf-like asteroids?

Aren't all asteroids "stony"?

Inquiring minds want to know.

There was supposed to be a safe flyby the day the Chelyabinsk superbolide exploded over Russia in 2013. I think we are due for another Chelyabinsk.
