People in the South with Well Pumps...

Maybe weather related? Are they electric or solar? New enough to have chip technology that could cause them to be turned off remotely?

Sounds like it lost its prime.

There are 3 flow wells within a mile of me in SW MS. All 3 are flowing full strength. Filled 2 five gallon bottles today.

A surge in the voltage or a sudden drop in voltage can f anything up. Thats the explanation.

it appears the capacitor just failed. Others in the area also have had their pumps fail.
There was an aircraft that flew over at the same time as well. And that’s when the Well Pump stopped working.
Just very weird.

Ac motors have a capacitor to start the motor turning, and a power surge will fry it. These usually occur during storms.

We got the pump and water tank 3-4 years ago. So wasn’t expecting anything to break so fast.

We have not had any storms. Just cloudy recently and hot.

It’s the capacitor. It’s just weird a few others pumps all broke on the same day.

Yes that is strange. We had a foot valve/ check valve go bad in ours a few years back.

Please do be careful changing it, even a bad cap can hit you pretty hard.

what does the water look like in the buffer tank?

let us know if putting a new starter cap on it solves it.

Op bad weather especially lightening will fuck a well pump up quick. I cut mind off at breaker if we anticipate storms especially lightening. And the new pumps dont last like the old ones 5yrs is about all u get these days.

My neighborhood has its own water system. No problem with our pumps recently.

We keep a couple back up pumps in the tool shed.

It’s a bad capacitor, Does anyone know a good place to get a capacitor online? Besides EBay and Amazon.

My husband checked ACE and Home Depot and nothing!

We have not had lightening or any storms recently
It just went out this morning after a helicopter or something went over our home, and now the capacitor is dead along with a few other people around.

Now just have to find where to buy a capacitor near us.

If the pump is really deep it's a pain pulling the damn thing out.

Call a well expert.

We would rather replace it ourselves.

If it is a Wayne pump, it's shit, I'm on my third motor in five years since I got it.

I've got it down to 20 minutes to change.

yeah, I thought, maybe with all the crap going on, it would be smart to have a new pump ... and called the people who originally dug the well and installed the pump - close to twenty years ago ... lady on the phone told me, that that brand of (deep well) pump typically last 40 years with little or no problems ... said if I bought a new one - it wouldn't last 5years ... they cost about $1500 to replace (parts and labor) - so I said "thanks, but no thanks - I'll stick with the one I have"

never had a problem with this old one, other than when the horse got in the enclosure (well is in the pasture) and busted some pipes .... twice) won't happen again

it's not effected by lightening - unless the power in the house goes out... I have a gen - if it stays out -
